Psalm 95 When I first read Psalm 95 I was reminded of when I visited Yosemite a few years ago. I stood there speechless as tears began to stream. It was the first time creation had moved me to such awe. I was suddenly aware of how big and capable our Creator was and how small and dependent on Him I was. As always, the Lord worked on my heart during this process in ways I never expected. About a week after I started this piece, my life hit a rough patch and I walked through several hard things all at once. My faith was shaken and I found myself struggling to trust God and His plan. We sang “Bless God” one Sunday and I sobbed as I couldn’t sing the words. I didn’t know how to praise His name in the hard times. I was frustrated with myself and how quickly I forgot that the Lord is big enough to handle all my struggles. There’s a song by Mercy Me that says  Make it well with my soul  Keep my heart from hardening like stone  Show me through the pain  There’s reason still to praise  So I can sing  It is well with my soul I just sang that over and over to the Lord. As I sat in this, I realized that He is worthy of my praise, whether I could give it or not. He has proven time and again He is faithful, He is good, and He is worthy! But when I couldn’t, He said, “let me help you.” So I praised Him anyway, even when it hurt, when it felt fake, when it was for past, not current circumstances and I found that my heart softened so quickly. Even though it’s not about us, worshiping and praising Him was also for my good! This piece is called Majesty because as I pondered this passage I was invited by the Lord to behold His Majesty in everyday life. Not in just the magnificent things, but the minimal things in life too. To have a heart posture of thanksgiving and worship, to rest in His mighty, capable hands. May we live in awe of Him, each day just like when we see his wondrous creation. And when it’s hard, we lean on the Rock of our salvation because we can’t do it in our own strength.
